5 out of 5 stars LOOOOOOVE this MAGAZINE!!!!!   September 20, 2009

I am a kindergarten teacher with a M.S. in early childhood and literacy education as well as the mother of FOUR children... I found this magazine in my OBGYN office when I was pregnant with my second child and FELL IN LOVE IMMEDIATELY. This magazine, without a doubt, needs to be in every home that has children between the ages of 1-12yrs. I found the articles to be EXACTLY on the pulse of today's research regarding best practices for children regarding ALL AREAS of development. EVERY article is valuable and informative and there is PLENTY of FUN thrown in as well!! PLEASE give this magazine a try... You won't regret it! Heads and shoulders above other parenting magazines that I have previously subscribed to in the past. I cancelled all my other subscriptions and am now just receiving this... AND I SAVE EVERY ISSUE!! I can't throw them away! VERY HAPPY!!

4 out of 5 stars Raising Children to be Successful, Happy Adults   February 15, 2010

Scholastic Parent & Child is a good magazine that strives to educate parents on specific issues regarding the raising of their children. This publication aims to offer advice and suggestions on ways to teach your children better, deal with crises, etc., as you raise your children from birth through the early teenage years.

Scholastic Parent & Child helps parents with child issues for youngsters and its advice covers children from infants through approximately twelve years of age. The material contained within this magazine covers a multitude of topics and one of the nice qualities is that the articles are very up to date. This publication seeks out the latest research, the newest methodologies, etc. and applies it to the advice in each issue. Scholastic Parent and Child wants concerned parents to have the best information from the most reputable sources, in order to make the best decisions possible for your family, so its writers work hard to make sure they include the latest findings.

Another nice quality with Scholastic Parent and Child is that the articles are not aimed solely at children. Often, parents have concerns of their own, such as balancing work and home, changing careers, seeking reprieve from the challenges of parenthood, etc. Because of this, the magazine strives to include articles aimed at adults among its many departments and sections. Yes, there is usually a family theme behind these articles, but it is still nice that the magazine realizes the importance of having a healthy adult to raise a happy, healthy child. .

Parenting magazines serve an important purpose and Scholastic Parent & Child is a very good publication about raising kids, educating, dealing with crises, and having fun. This magazine covers a wide range of topics and while I would like it better if it offered more frequent publication and a few more pages in each issue, it is still a very good magazine for families with children age twelve and under.

3 out of 5 stars Not great   October 24, 2009

This was not as good as I expected for a Scholastic publication. It has a lot of advertising. That surprised me. Parent or Parenting are just as good, if not better, magazines.

1 out of 5 stars Too mainstream, nothing different   September 12, 2009

I plan to call and have my subscription cancelled. This magazine is way too mainstream for my family and also does not offer anything fresh or different from any of the other "parenting" magazines.
